What are Core Web Vitals?
Core Web Vitals are three scores from Google about how fast and pleasant your website is. They count towards your position in Google.
The first score measures how fast the main part of your page becomes visible. The second measures how fast your site responds when you tap something. The third measures whether the page jumps around while loading.
You can measure them for free with Google PageSpeed Insights. Look at mobile most of all. That is where most visitors are and where sites are often slowest.
Large photos are the most common cause of a slow site. They are often easy to make smaller.
Real-life example
A gardener had photos of 5 MB on his homepage. After making them smaller the page loads on mobile in 2 seconds instead of 9.
