What is CPC?

Short answer

CPC stands for cost per click. It is what you pay when someone clicks on your ad.

With Google Ads you usually pay per click. People see your ad for free. You only pay when someone clicks.

The price of a click depends on the keyword. The more businesses want to advertise on a word, the more expensive the click.

A low CPC is nice but it is not the goal. One expensive click that brings in a customer beats ten cheap clicks with no result.

Real-life example

An installer paid €4 per click on "heat pump". On "heat pump installer manchester" he paid €2. Those clicks also brought in more quote requests.
