What is a spam update?
A spam update is a Google change that ranks sites with misleading or mass-produced content lower in the search results.
In 2026 there were spam updates in March, June and August. Sites with hundreds of pages made quickly with AI often dropped a lot.
Using AI is not forbidden. It is about pages that do not really help anyone.
Write fewer pages that truly answer a question. Show who you are and what experience you have.
Real-life example
A company put 300 pages online in one month. They were all almost the same. After the spam update the whole site dropped out of the top 10.
