What is Google Ad Grants?

Short answer

Google Ad Grants is a Google programme for charities. Recognised nonprofits get up to 10,000 dollars a month to advertise in Google for free.

Your ads appear in the Google search results. Just like normal ads. Only you do not pay. Google pays.

It is open to charities, associations and church organisations. You usually need registered charity status. Google checks your organisation first.

There are rules. Your ads must get clicked often enough. You measure what visitors do, such as donating or signing up as a volunteer. If you do not meet the rules Google pauses the account.

Regular advertisers come first in the auction. That is why Ad Grants works best on specific search terms. Think of volunteering in your town or help with a question your charity answers.

Real-life example

A charity for carers advertised with Ad Grants on searches like "help for carers manchester". It got dozens of new sign-ups every month without paying anything itself.
